Managing Environmental Risks for a Sustainable Future.

Identifying environmental aspects and the associated impacts is a key element to managing risks. It allows organisations to develop strategies, plan and allocate resources to prioritise and address both adverse and beneficial environmental risks. 

Cress Consulting assisted the City of Ballarat in identifying, assessing and prioritising environmental aspects and impacts across its operations and activities, aligning with the ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System (EMS) standard. This work supported the Council in pursuing its strategic goal of achieving a more environmentally sustainable future, leading to the creation of a framework for effective management of environmental risks.

The City of Ballarat, Victoria’s heritage city and the third largest in the state, is responsible for the delivery of more than 80 services to residents, including family and children’s services, youth services, waste management, and maintenance of open spaces and community buildings. The assessment of environmental aspects and impacts has allowed the Council to determine clear actions to address the most significant risks.
